Behind The Scenes At Chips: Our History

You’ve visited and you’ve dined, you’ve tasted and you’ve indulged, but have you ever wondered where it all began? How the menu you’ve grown to love came to be? If so, then you’re in luck because today, we’d like to give you a taste of our restaurant’s history!
Since 2003, George Chatzopoulos has been the mastermind behind one of Connecticut’s family favorites, Chip’s Family Restaurant! After immigrating to the United States from Greece in 1987, George quickly took to the restaurant business and after gaining years of experience in the field, started working with Chip’s. Although pancakes have been and continue to be our specialty, after taking over the business, George broadened our menu to include healthier choices such as local produce and whole grain foods. But don’t worry – we still offer 40 varieties of pancakes that are sure to make your mouth water! In fact, our decision to serve breakfast all day is largely due to George’s goal of blending Greek and Mediterranean favorites with traditional American family style practices.
As evident in our name, the concept of “family” has always been important to us – that’s why we treat our community like one! Here at Chip’s, we are proud to say that many local high school students have gained their first working experience by being a part of our team. Furthermore, George continues to make it a priority to give back to the community, with one example being opening our doors to civic organizations such as the Orange Rotary and Chamber of Commerce for their meetings.
