Menu Ideas For A Graduation Party

Graduation party planning tipsWe certainly can’t believe it, but once again another year has gone by, signaling the end of an academic journey for many students at different grade levels. For college students, graduations are just around the corner. For others, like high school students, middle school students and elementary school students, graduation is likely just a little over one month away. But regardless of when the exact graduation date is, we bet that many families are beginning to think about how they are going to celebrate.

If you have a child at home who will be receiving their diploma this year and plan to host a party at home, consider including the following food items on your menu – you’re sure to get an A in the eyes of your guests!

Sandwiches: Easy and a crowd favorite, sandwiches are always a hit when it comes to both appetizers and the main course. Whether you make teaser treats with some cold cuts or opt for the traditional hero, sandwiches are a simple option that allow your guests to pick and choose exactly what they are in the mood for. If you’re looking to be creative, Taste of Home suggests a “diploma sandwich” recipe; check it out here.

Salad: A major benefit of salad is that, like sandwiches, it can be served as an appetizer or included in your main meal. For this menu item you may consider making a few different versions (caesar, garden – whatever you prefer) to offer guests a variety of options – you may even consider a “make your own” station!

BBQ Chicken: Yum! If chicken is one of your preferred menu items, spice things up a bit by adding a touch of BBQ sauce to the mix. In this recipe from Taste of Home, you can even learn how to make BBQ Chicken Sliders if you’re looking to make a finger food spread.

Hot dogs and Hamburgers: Let’s face it, BBQ anything is usually a safe bet! Especially if you have a large group of guests attending your party, it can make your job relatively simple since all that is required are buns, some ketchup and mustard, and of course, your BBQ! But don’t forget the fries! If you’re going for a classic BBQ feel, fries are definitely a must.

Fruit Salad: Especially on warm summer days, fruit salads can be one of the sweetest (and most refreshing) treats to bite into. Check out this article from Southern Living for a list of possible fruit salad ideas.

Last but not least, be sure to put some thought into your desserts. Even if you plan to have a graduation cake, you may decide that you want some cookies, brownies and other traditional favorites available for guests on the side.

Here at Chip’s Family Restaurant, we would like to congratulate all of the graduates of the class of 2015! If you’re looking for additional ways to celebrate, be sure to come down to our Fairfield, Orange, Trumbull or Wethersfield location.
