Dining Tips For A Summer Road Trip
Posted on June 11th, 2015 by Chips Restaurants
What do your plans look like for the summer? Do you have a road trip planned? While many of you might have plans to escape to an island down south, others might be planning to visit local landmarks that are accessible by car! But since road trips mean much time will be spent in the car, that also means much of your dining will take place on the road too – whether while you drive, at a rest stop, or at a nearby restaurant.
If you’re planning a journey that will take place over a few days, a week, or maybe even longer, we encourage you to keep the following tips in mind when it comes to what you eat:
- Be smart about your snacks! When packing, be sure to include healthy options that aren’t too hard on the stomach – Greatist suggests string cheese, fruit and granola bars. In addition to choosing snacks that won’t bog you down during the drive, be sure to include ones that will actually keep you satisfied for as long as you need to be.
- Pack as many lunch and dinner meals as you can. Even if it’s just a few different variations of sandwiches, the more you have prepared, the less likely you will be to stop for food along the way (not only will this save you money, but it is also great for your health since you won’t need to stop for fast food).
- When you do choose to dine out at a restaurant in town, make wise decisions in terms of what you eat. Especially if you’ll be getting right back on the road, you won’t want to feel stuffed for the next leg of your trip!
