Healthy Foods To Include In Your Child’s Lunchbox

Who is responsible for lunch duty in your home? Are you primarily the one packing lunches for the kids to take with them to school? If so, it’s your responsibility to make sure that they are getting the proper nutrients they need each day! While it can be easy to just put together a bag of kid favorites like chips and cookies, don’t forget how important it is to make sure they are engaging in healthy habits at all times of the day. Do you need some help with lunchbox ideas? Below are a few healthy options for you to consider:
Whole grains: Between their sandwich and snack, there are plenty of opportunities to incorporate whole grains into your child’s day. When making a sandwich just be sure to use this type of bread, or include a snack such as crackers to complement their regular lunchtime meal!
Fruits: An apple a day keeps the doctor away, right? As you put together your child’s lunchbox, don’t forget to include one of their favorite fruits for their snack. Whether it be a sliced apple, fresh cut strawberries or a banana, for example, you’ll want to make sure your children are getting the proper amount of servings of fruit each day!
Vegetables: Vegetables are just as important as fruit when it comes to maintaining a healthy diet! As you prepare snacks for your children to eat throughout the day, don’t forget that you can include items such as carrot sticks.
Baked potato chips: Okay – we know that kids are going to crave their favorite junk foods at one point or another, which is why we had to include this healthy alternative! It may not be a fruit or a vegetable, but baked potato chips are much better than traditional chips if this is a snack your child can’t live without.
Tuna fish: Either on a sandwich or alone, tuna fish is an excellent meal for your child to eat at lunch. Should they want it on a sandwich, remember to use whole-grain bread!
