Did you know? Today is National Dessert Day! Easily one of the most delicious days of the year. And although we could go on for hours about our favorite sweets, today we’re going to focus solely on the upcoming holiday and list a few desserts that are perfect for Halloween! If your mouth isn’t already watering over the amount of chocolate and candy you’ll consume just a few weeks from now, it’s definitely about to be:

Halloween Dessert Ideas

Pumpkin Rice Krispies: Kick traditional rice krispies up a notch by making yours in the shape of a pumpkin! Then, once they’re cooked, put the final touches on and turn yours into a jack-o-lantern by making a face with candy corn – another Halloween favorite! To get started on this dessert, follow this recipe from Delish.

Pumpkin Fudge: You can never go wrong with a chunk of fudge! But rather than your traditional chocolate, vanilla, maybe even cookies and cream, you may want to consider using pumpkin as your fudge’s flavor for Halloween. What a great way to utilize one of the season’s most popular flavors! Here is the recipe in case you want to give this treat a try.

Creepy crawler cupcakes: If cupcakes are your specialty, you’ll definitely want to whip up a batch for Halloween. However, instead of leaving them as is, consider decorating them to resemble a spider! It’s simple – all you need is some black sanding sugar, black licorice, marshmallows and cinnamon candy to complete the look.

Spooky marshmallows: Marshmallows taste great as is, but you can make them even more spook-tacular by designing them to look like Halloween characters! For example, you may choose to make a few that look like Dracula or others that look like Frankenstein! Get the complete recipe for this dessert here.

Caramel apples: We couldn’t complete our list without including a traditional seasonal dessert! There is no better way to end the holiday than by enjoying a delicious apple dipped in caramel (and some chocolate wouldn’t hurt)! This recipe from My Recipes has all of the information you need to put this treat together.

Before you dive into enjoying these desserts, though, don’t forget to have a full-course meal! The team here at Chip’s Family Restaurant would love to celebrate the season with you, so be sure to come on down to our restaurant in Southbury, Fairfield, Orange, Trumbull or Wethersfield to get your breakfast, lunch or dinner in before heading to the kitchen to make your Halloween treats!
