One of the best perks of the holiday season is the food that comes along with it. Depending on which holiday you celebrate, you may have original family recipes that you follow, or you might just stick to traditional favorites. Focusing specifically on Hanukkah, if you will begin your celebrations this weekend, we bet you’ll definitely be indulging in some delicious latkes. While the most common type of latke is the potato latke, consider switching it up this season! Below, we list three different ways to make nontraditional latkes:

Apple Latkes

Using ingredients such as plain Greek yogurt, ground cinnamon and maple syrup, you can create a sweet, and even a tad healthier version, of your standard potato latke! Click here for the full recipe.

Potato and Carrot Latkes

If you’re short on time but want to serve up a plate of latkes that make you look like a celebrity chef, consider the potato and carrot latke! Check out Rachel Ray’s own recipe (which takes just under 30 minutes) for this tasteful treat here.

Sweet Potato Latkes

Do you usually choose sweet potatoes over traditional potatoes? If so, this version of latkes is right up your ally. Using 1/2 pound of sweet potatoes, flour, one egg and some sour cream (among other ingredients), you can create a latke that doesn’t deviateĀ too much from what guests might be used to.

From the team here at Chip’s Family Restaurant, we would like to wish everyone celebrating Hanukkah a very happy and healthy holiday! If you’re in charge of the cooking this year, which latkes will you choose?
