Three Reasons Why Breakfast Is So Important

Posted on April 29th, 2016 by Chips Restaurants

You don’t have to be a huge foodie to have heard the saying “breakfast is the most important meal of the day.” But is it true? Definitely! According to Consumer Reports, the effect that breakfast has on you is different than any other meal because the time between dinner and your next breakfast is the longest that your body goes without consuming any food. Aside from the fact that it’s your first meal of the day, though, here are a few additional reasons why breakfast is so important.

1. It helps your heart. Consumer Reports explains that a recent study involving almost 27,000 men showed that those who did not eat breakfast were 27% more likely to develop heart disease. While there may be additional factors contributing to your risk for developing heart disease, not eating in the morning can lead to weight gain, high cholesterol and high blood pressure – all of which can cause heart disease.

2. It encourages activity. When you eat breakfast in the morning, you’re giving your body the energy you need to get going for the day. On the contrary, when you don’t, you’re making it much harder for your body to get up and get moving. Since the state of our health partially results from how much physical activity we get, you need to eat breakfast so that you don’t delay being active for the day!

3. It benefits your mental health. In addition to your physical health, eating breakfast also contributes to the state of your mental health. Did you know that eating breakfast each day could help you improve your memory and ability to pay attention? Furthermore, it could help you process information better throughout the day and even make learning easier!

If you’re not already eating breakfast every day, we encourage you to make it a priority to do so moving forward – knowing these three benefits of breakfast, there’s no reason not to!
