3 Benefits of Eating Breakfast Before Finals
Posted on May 31st, 2016 by Chips Restaurants
Anyone who has ever taken a test before has probably been given the advice, “make sure you eat a good breakfast before you head out.” But just because you’ve heard it, does it make it true? In this case, yes!
Oureverydaylife.com shares that according to the U.S Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service, eating breakfast directly impacts the way children think and act in a learning environment, and also improves the skills children use when taking a test. So, if you have finals coming up, don’t forget to make time in the morning to munch on a healthy meal! Here are some more specifics on why it’s so important to do so:
1. Breakfast helps you wake up. Drowsy is one feeling you certainly won’t want to experience while you’re in the middle of a test – it can make it extremely difficult to concentrate! As a result, you may not do as well as you hoped, even if you’ve put in a ton of study hours.
2. Breakfast can improve your mood. It’s normal to feel anxious and nervous before a big test, but if you skip breakfast, those feelings may be much stronger. Not to mention, failing to eat breakfast will only cause your stomach to rumble during the exam, which can lead to feelings of negativity and maybe even cause you to rush through the questions so that you can get out and get something to eat.
3. Breakfast can boost test scores. Did you know that not eating breakfast may result in visual problems and even slow down memory function? On the other hand, eating breakfast can make you much more aware and boost your cognitive skills – two factors that directly impact how well you do and what grade you get.
Aside from eating breakfast, don’t forget how important it is to eat lunch and some healthy snacks throughout the day too – especially if your test isn’t first thing in the morning. By fueling your body with the proper nutrients prior to testing time, we know you’ll feel a lot more confident walking into the classroom!
