Breakfast Ideas for the First Day of School
Posted on August 9th, 2016 by Chips Restaurants
As much as we’d love for summer to last forever, it has to end eventually and children will have to go back to school. Speaking of school, we know how hard it can be to get everyone out of the house on time in the morning – between showering, getting dressed and packing lunches, there’s a lot to be done, and that’s without factoring in breakfast!
To make your mornings a little easier (especially the morning of the first day of the 2016-2017 school year), today we’d like to share a few of our favorite breakfast ideas – check them out below.
Breakfast Burritos
Regardless of whether you eat it at home or on-the-go, a breakfast burrito is an awesome idea for any school day morning. There are a ton of different recipes out there, and you can even get creative and make your own if your children have some other foods that they’d prefer to mix together!
Smoothies
Some children just aren’t up for eating before school, but since it’s so important for everyone to eat breakfast each and every day, a smoothie is a great alternative to try. Even though it’s in the form of a drink, smoothies still offer many of the nutrients our bodies need to get going for the day, and like breakfast burritos, you can customize them depending on your child’s favorite flavors!
Muffins
From blueberry to chocolate chip, coffee cake and more, we’re sure you can find a type of muffin your children will crave! If you make the muffins at home, you can bake them to be whatever size you’d like depending on if your children will sit down for a large breakfast or if they’ll need to take their share on-the-go.
Fruit Salad
There’s nothing like starting off the day with a big bowl of juicy fruit salad! It’s quick and easy to make, and we all know how good fruit is for you, so…why not? You can create your fruit salad using those fruits your children like best, but some ideas to get you started include strawberries, blueberries, grapes and cantaloupe!
Pancakes
For those of you who will have some time to prepare a big meal in the morning, go with pancakes (and maybe some eggs on the side too). Eating just a short stack will be enough to fill your kids up for the day, and with so many different flavors that you can try, you can practically have pancakes every day without getting bored of having the same thing!
Now, we know that breakfast isn’t the only thing families need to prepare on school days – there’s lunch and dinner too. If you’re not up for cooking after a long day, come on down to Chip’s Family Restaurant and let us do the work for you! We serve breakfast all day long, but we also offer a creative lunch and dinner menu too.
