4 Ways to Spruce Up Your Salads for Spring
Posted on April 6th, 2017 by Chips Restaurants
Does the thought of eating a salad have you feeling like a rabbit? There are lots of ways to transform that bowl full of lettuce into a satisfying meal that is perfectly balanced. No matter your preference – crunchy, spicy or sweet – here are four ways to spruce up your salads this spring:
Warm It Up: We’re not saying you actually need to heat up your salad, but you can definitely throw in some warm ingredients. Grilled onions, sauteed mushrooms or peppers go a long way especially when you top it off with salmon, steak or grilled chicken.
Egg It: is your salad lacking color? Is it lacking substance? Whatever the case may be, adding hard-boiled, poached, or fried eggs is a great way to kick it up a notch.
More Beans, Please: you’ve got lots of options to choose from here: chickpeas, black beans, pinto beans, edamame, the choice is yours. Not only will beans add some color and some deliciousness, you’ll get a large serving of protein as well!
Slice An Avocado: sometimes all your boring salad needs is a few slices of avocado. It’s full of healthy fat and it tastes great so try it out on your bowl of greens.
Don’t forget, the right dressing can make a world of difference. If you’ve been using the same type for years, it might be worthwhile to switch it up. With so many choices in the salad dressing aisle, there’s bound to be something that strikes your fancy. If not, you can always stop in to any of our five locations and try out one of our scrumptious salads.
