National Chili Dog Day | Chili Dog Recipe | Chip's Family Restaurant

What’s for dinner tonight? Well, it’s National Chili Dog Day and that means it’s perfectly acceptable to stuff your face with a delicious, beefy, cheese hot dog without worry. So let’s not waste any more time – let’s get right down to the most important part, the recipe.

Ingredients:

1lb ground beef

1 cup beef broth

1 tbsp chili powder

1 clove fresh garlic, minced

½ tsp onion powder

½ tsp ground black pepper

1 tbsp dark brown sugar

½ tsp sea salt

¼ tsp oregano

½ cup ketchup

¾ cup tomato sauce

Directions:

Start by adding ground beef to an oiled pan and cook until almost done. Drain the fat and oil and add in ⅓ cup of broth. In a separate bowl, combine spices and apply liberally to the meat. Next, mix in the ketchup and tomato sauce and then add the remaining broth. Bring the mixture to a boil and then reduce heat, cover and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes.

Now it’s time for the fun part – add the chili to your hot dog and top with fresh diced onions and shredded cheddar cheese. Mouth watering yet?
