How To Meal-Prep The Right Way
Posted on October 10th, 2017 by Chips Restaurants
If you’re meal-prepping the wrong way, it’s most likely something you dread doing each week. In fact, you may prefer going to the dentist to have your teeth drilled instead. Well, it doesn’t need to be that bad. Believe it or not, meal prep can actually be quite fun. So whether you’re looking to stick to a strict diet or just looking to eat a bit healthier during the week, see below to find out how to prep your meals the right way:
Settle On A Day Of The Week
It all depends on how many meals you plan on making for the week. Sunday tends to be the day of choice for most meal-preppers, but it’s most important to pick a day that works best with your schedule. We recommend choosing a day of the week where you tend to have lots of free time. After all, cooking enough food to last a full week does take up a big chunk of time.
Create A Menu
Once you decide on how many meals you need for the week, it’s time to get creative. We recommend incorporating things like chicken, turkey and lean beef, avocados, nuts, brown rice, quinoa, veggies and whole grain bread. One major meal-prep fail occurs when people rely on the same exact foods for multiple days or weeks on end. It’s quite alright to mix it up!
Stick To The List
We all know how expensive grocery shopping can be, which is why it’s vital to stick to your list. Write down all of the ingredients you’ll need for the week and try to get in and get out as quickly as possible.
Don’t Forget To Pack
Another major fail comes with meal-preppers forgetting to pack their food. Sounds silly, right? Well, it’s easy to cook everything and store it in large containers rather than actually taking the time to pack them into meal-sized portions. Trust us when we tell you you’ll be much happier when you wake up on Monday morning with your meals ready to go!
When you need a break from it all or want to treat yourself to a bit of a “cheat” meal, you can always head on down to Chip’s!
