Oh boy – you’re headed out to eat with friends and you’ve been doing so well with your diet lately, but you know this is going to crush everything you’ve been working so hard towards. It’s pretty much impossible to eat healthy while dining out right? Well, not exactly. See below to find out how you can actually stick to your low-carb diet even while dining at your favorite restaurant.

Plan Ahead: The more you decide ahead of time, the easier it will be to pick items off the menu that align with your diet. Try looking over the menu online ahead of time to get an idea of what you want to eat.

Ask Questions: Politely ask questions about the food. Accommodations can be made as needed. Take our Stuffed Peppers under the 2 for $22 entree section. The peppers come stuffed with ground beef, rice, and topped with a tomato sauce, but you can simply ask for no rice and our chefs will be more than happy to accommodate your request.

Go For The Salad: When in doubt, go for the greens! Salads are great for you – they are low in calories and high in fiber. You can add various protein sources to them to make them more filling without all the extra sides. We recommend staying away from thick, creamy dressings if you’re goal is to steer clear of extra fats.

Substitute Sides: Get Salad or vegetables on the side instead of rice or pasta

Pick Beverages Carefully: Stick with water, sparkling water, tea, coffee instead of fruit juice or soda.

Ask For Sauces On The Side: because they can be loaded with carbs, ask for condiments and sauces on the side. This way, you can portion control how much you use.

Craving a Burger? Skip out on the bun and ask for a side salad instead.

Breakfast All Day? Opt for an omelette with low carb veggies like spinach, peppers, or mushrooms. Have fruit on the side instead of toast or hash browns.

Rethink dessert! You know the saying – “a moment on the lips, forever on the hips.”
